The plot is ~150m upslope from a gas road and ~750m southwest of a pumping station. Along the road traces Gum Lick Run.;Plot is on upper mid-slope of east southeast facing hill. Two terraces (likely from logging roads) more or less border the uphill and downhill edges of the plot. Different oaks, mostly white, dominate the overstory along with hickory. In the T3 and S1, redbud and dogwood are spread out along with oak and hickory. There is a rather sparse herb layer consisting mostly of Dicanthelium boscii.
